Does anyone know of a client for the Mac that I can use to transfer my Mini-Disc Net-MD files with? I hate having to use an old PC laptop with SonicStage just to transfer files to my mini-disc player. The Mini-Disc technology is still great for musicians just wanting to record while they practice or jam some ideas, just a shame it never really continued to catch on.

Sure I know there is plenty of ways to do it in real-time with audio in/out etc. But that’s not really what I want to do.

  1. I’m looking for the same thing. (for a different reason). I use my old Sony MD recorder to record my sets. I really dont use the (2) MD recorders I have for anything else anymore. When these first came out, I went all in and bought several discs (many still unopened) The problem with things as they are now, is that I can only record 80Min. at a time. I’ve never used the Sony PC software so im not sure that it will do what I wanted anyway; which is to be able to record MORE than 80 min per disk. But I’m guessing that this software would only let me load files that have already been created.

did either of you hear of any solution for the mac / minidisc compatibility issue? i’ve been looking for something for years… same reason… i’ve got discs full of little song ideas and i just wanna archive them all easily rather than having to do it real time.

  2. Sadly I have not found any solutions, which is really disappointing.

btw, have you checked out the Zoom H4 recorder? it’s awesome… it’s what i use now all the time for rehearsals, song ideas, etc, records as wav or mp3, etc… super easy transfer.
