OmniFocus 1.5 for iPhone on the way!

OmniFocus for the iPhone and iPod touch are on the way and should be appearing in the iTunes store sometime today according to this blog post.
Here are the highlights, but go read the post by Ken Case!

OmniFocus v1.5 requires iPhone OS 3.0, taking advantage of many of its new features such as Copy and Paste and integrated Maps.

OmniFocus now displays nearby contexts using a map. Touch a pin to see all the tasks in the corresponding context.

You can Cut, Copy, and Paste entire actions by holding down a checkbox in an action list. You can paste into an empty list by holding the “No Actions” text.

You can search through all your projects and actions using the new Search screen.

In Projects and Contexts screens, you can select All Actions to show a grouped list of all actions.

You can set up repeating actions and projects using the new Repeat screen.

Action lists now display each action’s due date.

Web links in notes now open inside OmniFocus (rather than launching Safari).

Send Feedback now sends email inside OmniFocus (rather than launching Mail).

We’ve added experimental support for landscape mode and undo; both can be enabled under Settings.

Things OS-X GTD application goes 1.0RC

The Things application by Cultured Code for the Mac and iPhone/iPod Touch has reached 1.0RC (release candidate) status. Personally I’m more than happy with my OmniFocus set-up but I would recommend it to anyone interested in GTD software for the Mac or on the move to try it out.

Flick Fishing on iPhone, my best catch!

Well Flick Fishing is still my favorite game on the ‘i’ device and today I think I managed to reach the last unlock and start getting the named fish. However I did also pull in this one

iPod / iPhone 2.2 firmware, download podcasts but no subscribe?

So the new firmware for iPod touch and iPhone is out. And whilst it is great that I can browse and download podcasts it’s also pretty useless right now?

1. I cannot subscribe to a new feed?
2. When I hit get more episodes on any of my current podcasts subscriptions it just sends me to the first page of the store?
3. When I do download a podcast is still appears in the list of episodes and even allows me to download it again??

Nice effort Apple, but pretty bloody useless unless I’m just not seeing where the above is in the ‘feature’?

Why not just call it the ‘ Browse and preview podcasts but never actually subscribe to them’ feature…

P.S. I have yet to be brave enough to upgrade my iPhone to 2.2, I’ll give it a day and see how many problems there are before I do anything. I learned that the hard way with 2.0.2 on the iPod.

RadTech – I cannot compliment them enough!

I ordered a couple of days ago the following for my MacBook Pro from RadTech.

A Sleevz cover.
A set of Pawz feet to add some breathing space below the laptop.

And they arrived today, firstly the speed of delivery was super fast. The quality is superb, the sleeve fits tightly over the laptop giving it protection and the feet raise the machine enough to give room without making the machine appear to high on a surface to be comfortable.

What also impressed me was the sleeve was inside a tube to give it protection during the postal system and keeping it clean and free from creases and wrinkles.

I cannot recommend the company strong enough, I am super impressed with them after using them for the first time. If you need the products they offer do not hesitate, they can be relied on to provide service and quality at a great price.

Oh those Apple Genius’ need to get out more

I guess they need to get out more since apparently they’ve never heard the rather popular AC/DC tracks. And yes I did update as the dialog suggests. And I guess they are suggesting that AC/DC is not a group I should listen too.

Ipod Touch 2.1 software is out

So am I the only one to notice that the read me file for the update actually says what changes are made rather than Apple’s standard non-informative improved reliability read me note? Could it be that they are doing some damage control at last and saying “hey we fixed what everyone said was broke and we are telling you so, but we still don’t want to admit there was a problem”.

Apple music event, is the halo starting to fade?

‘Let’s Rock’ event rocked about as much as a Britney come back.

OK so no surprise on the new iTunes and the new nano looks just like the shots everyone has seen and clearly Apple considers the nano the new ‘standard’ iPod. One thing though…they sure are pushing the hell out of the Genius features in the iPod and iTunes. I’ve yet to find an application that can actually recommend music based on what you are listening too and actually get it right other than hitting the same genre or bpm.

However, the features to the iPod touch are what catches my interest.

What my iPod PDA needs to rule the world

What I really need still for my iPod/iPhone PDA to rule my life in one device.

1. BlueTooth, we need that external keyboard for serious typists, only seeing 2-3 lines of type is crazy for anything other than SMS. And headset dictation/ recording.

2. External storage option, SD would be nice just like my iPaq.

3. Unlike others I don’t want to see a bigger screen, the form factor is perfect. Anything bigger and we no longer fit it in the pocket or make it a no brainer to carry around.

4. Camera, I do actually believe there is a chance of this in the new revisions, unless Apple still really wants us to buy the phone and not the pod.

5. GPS, another thing that I think might actually sneak into the revisions due so very soon. But I’m still thinking they need to have things like this only on the phone to give people yet another reason to buy it over the iPod.

6. I still see no reason to get the iPhone for using as a phone, my Sony E. is doing just fine and is no problem to carry around with my iPod. And I don’t have to pay those crazy subscription prices AT&T want me to pay every month over my basic voice and SMS plan.

I do wonder if maybe AT&T has Apple over a barrel somewhat as to what they are allowed to put in the iPod, it seems to me that AT&T would go to great lengths to prevent them loosing unique features to keep bringing in that revenue whilst they have the exclusive contract.
