Tweetie for the Mac OS-X desktop is nice but the search is not all that great, with that in mind here is a link to my suggestion on how to do it.

Atebits has released version 1.0 of Tweetie desktop for the Mac. Though no documentation means using through discovery something you would not expect if paying for. Selling for $15 or free via ad support I think the application has lots of potential and is probably worth the money, but the features are not all that amazing compared to other applications (and free I might add). TweetDeck still appears to be the front runner, although as I say Tweetie shows lots of potential and I’m impressed with it, currently I use EventBox and TweetDeck the most.
Will I buy it? Well maybe, but it needs to learn some things from other applications, like simply hiding or making very obvious old/read tweets compared to new ones and it needs documentation however simple. URL shortening service options whilst writing tweet rather than just in preferences? Save searches for things like hash tags?
The more you hide UI the more you need to tell people where to find it, for example it could well have way more features than I’m finding through just clicking and right clicking on everything but how would I know?

I reviewed what I think to the be better Adobe AIR based twitter clients available. TweetDeck, Twhirl and Spaz.
For those interested, I have kicked my twitter into life now that I ‘get it’. You can find and follow me here
Yup, no App store or new software needed for this one since it runs in the browser. I’ve tried it out and so far it’s working pretty darn well on my iPod touch
I can see this web application getting a lot of use by iPhone users, and I think iPod touch users will be pretty darn happy around the WiFi with it as well. Now if I can just get my typing speed up on the little screen keyboard.
Well technically we cannot acuse Apple of lying, the iPhone it’s self is actually cheaper but due to AT&T’s new plan pricing the total cost of ownership (TCO) makes the iPhone 3G more expensive to own and use than the original. Gone are text messages from the plan, you have to pay extra for those. And with the higher data rate the final cost to use one is more expensive.
Oh well, guess I won’t get one after all. I’ll stick with my iPod and WiFi, and my trust Sony Ericsson w810i for now. Thanks to the emitSMS widget I can send text messages right from my Mac without paying extra for a plan to do it and still use a keyboard for entry. I will probably eventually upgrade my iPod touch to the 32gb version, something that would of swung the deal for me if Apple had not delayed the 32g iPhone release (my guess is later in the year to sting customers yet again who buy the 3G version now).
Apple are probably happy because for once it’s not them who looks bad on this deal to end consumers
For reasons that I’m sure are purely financial and AT&T related Apple removed the sending of SMS messages using Address Book in Leopard. Well thanks to a very clever and very simple to use widget you can now send them again via the widget and your phone (if supported).
Just got take a look at this page to get it and how to set it up.
Works great with my Sony Ericsson 810i via blueTooth.
I used Trillian on the PC because it was great having all the chat protocols and accounts in one application. So when I switched to the Mac I looked for something that did the same rather than having lots of chat applications running in the background. As I have mentioned before personally I adore Adium, it is the best chat app I’ve found on the Mac. But it seems Trillian is set to come to the mac read about it here .
Whilst this is great news, you won’t get me switching away from Adium anytime soon, it does everything I could want and more, but it never hurts to have another choice.
For those that use it and for those that don’t, Adium has been updated. I simply love this program, I have all my various chat accounts rolled into this one program and it works great. If you use a Mac then I recommend trying it, oh and it’s free…but if they charged I would pay for it in a heart beat it’s that good. Check it out at www.adiumx.com
