Day #173

Code snippets are something all developers end up with, and we all need tools to enable easy management of the code. I have listed two that remain on my machines with pro’s and con’s, you can find them at this link.

As I was working through some tools this morning I thought I’d offer up a few of my fav Adobe AIR applications starting with screen measuring tools. Great for developers and designers.

Find my review, screenshots and download links here.

With all the talk around the content aware scaling (which is clever) being one of the big features in Photoshop CS4 I think many of the other things have been over looked…

I know Adobe needs the ‘wow’ feature to woo new customers and something to rav about but honestly I think that many of the long time users (I’ve used Photoshop since 2.5 I think) must surely be more WOW about being able to rotate the canvas at last, this is a HUGE feature for many like me that use a graphics tablet I’m sure. Now if I could just figure out how to use my Logitech Nulooq to rotate the canvas rather than using the icon, anyone?

And what about the new birds eye zoom….HUGE time saver and it looks neat as you use it.

Anyway, I just wanted to have my say over what I think are two of the biggest new features that don’t have much wow visually but sure do for workflow and time saving.

I have always loved using a graphics tablet ever since getting my first many many many years ago. The only thing I have never really been over keen on is the standard pen that came with my Wacom Intuos 2 tablet, for my smaller sized hands it always feels like a jumbo marker pen.

Well, I decided to given in and spend $50 on the Classic pen for my tablet since I knew it to be thinner. And I have not looked back, it is wonderful. It feels like you are holding a standard size pencil or pen, weighs practically nothing and still retains all the functionality.

So I just wanted to mention this for anyone out there that has always been a little frustrated by the thickness of the Wacom pen that ships with tablets, get the classic and thank yourself!
