I’ve had nothing but shutdowns, lockups, going to sleep and not allowing to be woken up again without forcing a reboot. Plus draining of battery life while in the sudo shutdown state.

Really fed up with Apple’s total lack of testing and quality control at this point, how can I use my phone if I can never tell if the damn thing is on or decided to shut it’s self down?

Fix it Apple, or get a really bad store visitation from me and apparently many many others based on the Apple forums.

me too had exactly the same problems.. might put it into dfu mode and do a fresh installation, that usually sorts the problems out.. give it a try.

  1. I’ve done a fresh install and waiting to see the outcome. I’ll post back success or failure :). I’ll consider success to be 2 days of use without the same problems coming back, reason I say that is I’ve seen people say it was fine for a day then started again.

My iPhone is now regularly locking up to the point where I have had to begin using my old mobile as my iPhone is now completely unreliable. What a major screw-up!
    Not Happy Jan 😦

  2. Well even after a complete reset with a fresh install the problems continue to repeat themselves. Earlier I discovered the phone had gone into a coma state and flattened the battery from full without even realizing it whilst out in bad weather…one wonders what would of happened if I had an emergency!

It also seems the Apple discussion forums are filling up fast with reports of the same on both the 3G and 3GS.

You have to wonder what Apple is doing about it, we know for sure they won’t say or admit liability for anything as per usual Apple PR position.

  3. To follow up with you all, the only time I don’t have any problems is when the iPhone is either plugged into the USB port or not running on battery power.

Which is totally useless as it’s a mobile device 🙂 but at least it’s a pattern to the problem I’m having.

I have the same issues with 3.1 on my 3G.

I upgraded from 3.0 because that version (for me) would freeze for a second or two while using Safari. 3.1 hasn’t fixed that.

It hasn’t introduced any new features that I’ve noticed, but I’ve lost tethering and it has become unreliable to the point that I’m scared to rely on the phone.

Downgrading to 3.0 is not realistic: even with the really quite involved hacks to put 3.0 back on, iTunes then refuses to restore my backup since the last backup was made with 3.1.

  4. My 3g iphone was upgraded from 2.1 something to 3.1.2. there after its shouting down by its self. Please help me out it took me one whole year to buy a used iphone and i cant even enjoy it for just mouth?????? someone should help me.
